The Bohol Bloggers Collective (BBC), headed by BBC Adviser Mr. Mark Phillips, BBC President Mrs. Joanne Phillips, BBC Secretary Ms. Eve Manapsal-Dimaano, BBC Graphics Designer/Photographer Bryan Jorine Agua, and BBC Board of Director Ruby Jane Alcantara joined the Municipality of Loon as it opened its new Mercado de Loon last September 3, 2017.
The blessing of the new Public Market was led by Our Lady of Light Parish priest Rev. Fr. Ramon Tumangday. Guests were welcomed by Hon. Mayor Elvi Peter Relampagos.
Gracing the event were DILG Provincial Director Mar. Loissella E. Lucino, DILG 7 Regional Director RD Rene K. Burdeos, First District Representative Congressman Rene L. Relampagos, and Governor Edgar M. Chatto.
The highlights of the inauguration ceremony was the unveiling of the Mercado de Loon Marker and the Turnover of the project by its contractor, JEGMA Construction and Development Corporation, to the Municipality of Loon.
Loon was one of the most affected municipalities of the earthquake that shook the province of Bohol in 2013. In this light, the new Mercado de Loon, a project of the Bohol Earthquake Assistance (BEA-1), emblems Boholanos’ resilience.
On September 8, The town will be celebrating SidlaKasilak, an annual Festival of Lights honoring its patroness Our Lady of Light.
