July 8 is the Bohol Bloggers Collective’s Founder and current President, Bohol ICT Council President, Rotary Club of Tagbilaran Club Internet Communication Officer and Gwion Solutions’ Managing Director, Joanne Phillip’s birthday. An unconventional way of celebrating her day, the three teams (Bohol Bloggers Collective, Bohol ICT Council and Gwion Solutions) joined the Beach clean up along the coastal line of the world renowned Alona Beach. With an aim to address our plastic problem, the beach clean up was initiated by Plastic Free Bohol and was also participated by volunteers from other groups including the Bohol Meditation and Yoga Center, Let’s Do It Philippines, Scotty’s Network, Equation Dive Shop, Piollo Clinic, Bohol Goodwill Volunteers, Bohol Climate Walkers, Seaquest Dive Shop, Be Grand Resort, Ocean Suites, Green Fins, Dive Ta Bai, Island Junkies, California School of Arts San Gabriel Valley, Rotaract Club of Tagbilaran, Enactus, Island Adventure, So Cool Dive, Alona Divers, Ecoboard friends, and other concerned citizens. In cooperation with Ocean Suites, Oasis Beach and Dive Resort, and Washdsgn, a number of volunteers were rewarded with various prizes. After the cleanup, the Bohol Bloggers Collective, together with the Gwion Solutions team and Rotaract Club of Tagbilaran members, got together for a breakfast at Villa Formosa, Panglao, Bohol. In the evening, Bamboo Place hosted a film screening of A Plastic Ocean which was joined by Sustainable Solutions Cebu, Bohol Climate Walkers, Greenpeace Philippines, Green Fins, and some friends. Another Beach Clean Up is scheduled this Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Danao Beach, Panglao Island, Bohol. Be a part of this movement and help make Bohol plastic-free.
